13/07/2008 :: Vivatel platform now supports conferencing
This week Melbourne company Vivatel added conferencing capabilities to its video telephony platform. Allowing two or more video or voice calls to be linked together, the addition of conferencing is the latest milestone on Vivatel's technology roadmap.
"The ability to transfer voice and video between handsets without revealing phone numbers opens up a variety of new applications", said Matthew Kwan, Vivatel's managing director. "Video chat services are an obvious one, but there will also be demand from the call centre and tech support markets. Being able to talk face-to-face with a real person after navigating a phone menu greatly enhances a customer's experience, as does the ability of a support technician to actually see a problem."
As a standard feature of the Vivatel platform, conferencing is available to all customers at no extra cost. Conferences involving outbound calls from the platform are charged at the usual outbound call rate.
